With the Springcast mobile app, you can easily give colleagues or employees access to your internal/private podcasts — anytime and anywhere, from their own phone. In this article, you will learn how to set up the app and add shows. This way, you get the most out of your podcast for your team, company, or organisation.
Important:
- The mobile app feature is only available in Springcast PRO if you purchase this add-on.
- Only the owner of the workspace can adjust the mobile app settings.
Check episode settings
Before you start, first check the episode settings to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Do you want to keep a podcast show truly internal? Then make sure that you indicate in both the Mobile app settings that the show may be displayed in the app (as described below), and also mark the show as private in the show settings on the platform. This disables the RSS feed and the podcast website.
Do you have a public show that you also want to make available via the mobile app? Then you do not need to mark the show as private. Leave the private option disabled — this way the show remains public and discoverable in the mobile app.
Navigate within the workspace to the Mobile app settings
- Click on the three dots in the top left corner
- Click on 'Mobile app'
Create groups and invite users
For the mobile app, you can manually invite users, who you then add to a group. Per group, you can grant access to the podcast shows you want to make available in the mobile app.
Create a group
- Click under 'Groups' on 'Create group'
- Enter the name of the group
- Click on 'Create'
Manually invite users
- Click under 'List of users for mobile app' on 'Create invitation'
- Enter the user's email address
- Assign the user to a group by ticking the group
- Click on 'Send invitation'
- The user will now receive an email notification with an invitation for the group
- Have the user accept the invitation
- Users create their own login credentials which they need to log in to the mobile app
Add users with SSO
You can also allow users to log in to the mobile app via SSO. This way, you do not have to add users manually. Users with the same domain as configured in the SSO settings must use SSO. Read here how to set up SSO for the mobile app.
Make shows available in the mobile app
To make the podcast shows visible in the app, go to 'Security settings of the shows'. Here you will find the shows created within the workspace.
- Click next to a show on 'Edit'
- Add a group for access
- Click on 'Confirm'
Important: The show is only visible to the groups it is linked to. If no group is linked, no one will see the show in the app. If you add a new show to the workspace, you still need to link the group in the mobile app settings.
Add custom branding to the mobile app
You can fully style the app in your company's colours. You do this under 'Branding'.
- Set the colours for the app. You will see these colours in the app, but also on the login screen (so the login page is already personalised). The latter only works in combination with SSO.
- Add artwork. This artwork is visible at the top left in the mobile app
Send notifications for new episodes
Do you want users of the app to receive a notification when a new episode is published? Then schedule the episode with a publication date that is 5 minutes later. This way, the system recognises that a notification should be sent.
Downloading the mobile app
Everything set up? Then you can have your colleagues or employees download the app. The links to the mobile app in the App Store and Google Play Store can be found under the heading 'Download or share the Springcast app'.
