At Springcast, we want to ensure our platform remains a safe, high-quality space for podcasters and their listeners. To prevent platform abuse and spam, we occasionally perform a quick check during the registration process.
This is often referred to as KYC ("Know Your Customer"). While it's common in finance, it’s becoming a standard for hosting platforms like ours to ensure we’re "meeting" the real people behind the podcasts.
Most of our users will never see these extra steps, but here is a breakdown of what might happen and why.
SMS Verification
Sometimes, our system picks up a combination of "low-confidence" signals. This doesn't mean you’ve done anything wrong! It just means a few patterns (like using a VPN, a specific hosting provider, or an unusual browser setting) have added up.
How it works:
We’ll ask for your mobile number.
You’ll receive a 6-digit code via text.
Enter the code, and you’re in!
Your Privacy:
We value your privacy. We do not store your phone number for marketing purposes. We only keep an anonymized "fingerprint" of the number to ensure it isn’t being used to create hundreds of fake accounts.
Can't receive an SMS?
No problem. Just click "I can't verify by phone" and your signup will be sent to our team for a manual review instead.
Manual Account Review
In cases where several signals stack up, or if SMS verification isn't an option, a member of the Springcast team will manually review your signup.
What to expect:
You’ll see an "Account under review" message after registering.
Pro-tip: There is a text box on that page. Tell us a little bit about your show or your company! It helps us approve your account much faster.
We usually process these reviews within a few business hours.
Once we’ve took a look, you’ll receive an email letting you know your account is ready to go. This isn't a background check or anything formal—it’s just a "sanity check" to make sure you're a human with a podcasting dream!
The Bottom Line
We’d much rather ask a couple of quick questions during signup than allow spam bots to degrade the experience for our community.
Thanks for your patience and for helping us keep Springcast a "spam-free" zone. We can’t wait to hear what you create!
